2020 Oklahoma State University Corn Competition

The UNL-TAPS organizers have helped to start a very similar program with Oklahoma State University called OSU-TAPS which is being hosted at the McCaull Research and Demonstration Farm in Eva, Oklahoma (30 miles northwest of Goodwell, in the Oklahoma Panhandle). Six farmer-led teams are participating this year in OSU-TAPS’s inaugural sprinkler corn competition alongside three university-staff led teams. Aside from limiting participants to one corn variety, OSU-TAPS participants will follow the same competition format as UNL-TAPS, making decisions on seed population density, nitrogen and water timing and amount, crop insurance, and marketing throughout the growing season that will be imposed on replicated plots under a VRI-equipped pivot. A "demonstration-farm" has been created to show how the forms work and what information is provided to the participants.
